The brig band is an l.a. jam band that has been playing Live since 2002

Aptly named after a Venice CA bar, the Brig Band was formed in 2002 by a group of local pro musicians when bar owner Dave Reiss decided to turn Tuesday nights into an all-star jazz/funk/hip-hop/rock jam. What was originally a quiet night turned into a legendary underground L.A. hang with people lining up down the block to get in, attracting some of the best players in the world. The band originally improvised most of the night, sometimes playing off of DJ Peyote Cody’s wide range of musical styles. Regular members and guests have played professionally with everyone from Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock & Stevie Wonder to the Doors, Fishbone and Steely Dan. Current members include Kenneth Burgomaster (keys), Joel Taylor (drums), Mark Harris (bass), Paul Murphy (guitar), David Ralicke (sax), Sal Marquez (trumpet) and DJ Peyote Cody.
